DHEA is a tertinary (third in importance) supplement in BHRT.
The need for DHEA supplementation is usually identified by a hormone
saliva test, although some symptoms may present a strong indication by them
self.
DHEA supplemention effectively addresses DHEA deficiency and in many
cases testosterone and/or estrogen deficiency as well. (DHEA can convert to
estrogen in the body and reduce low estrogen symptoms.)
DHEA and testosterone begin to decline noticeably in women after age 35.
This decline continues for the balance of a woman's life. To address the many
issues related to aging, especially osteoporosis, along with declining DHEA or
testosterone levels, DHEA becomes even more critical with advanced aging.
DHEA should be viewed as the tertiary step in a BHRT regimen. It is
important to note that DHEA can also decline in younger women due to
excessive, chronic stress since DHEA is produced by the adrenal glands.
The goal to Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is to
correct hormone imbalances thereby reducing or eliminating symptoms to improve
the quality of life. Because DHEA's molecular structure is identical to that
of endrogenous DHEA, it functions within the cellular receptors exactly the
same, providing the full scope of DHEA's action and properties. Supplementing
may reduce symptomes associated with androgen (a type of steriod that acts as
a male sex hormone) deficiency and estrogen deficiency.
Indications of declining andrognes:
Adrogens decline gradually from about 35 on. The symptoms
associated with testosterone and DHEA imbalances are sometimes difficult to
identify. Because of this, in most cases, the BHRT regimen should be advanced
fully with progesterone and estrogen before introducing DHEA. And it is
recommended that a saliva hormone test be used for definite indication for
DHEA supplementation.
The Primary Indications to Androgen Deficiency:
Physical: Aches and pains, thinnning of the skin,
loss of muscle tone, fatique, heart palpations, insomnia, bone loss, vasomotor
sx.
Gyn: Vaginal dryness, incontienence, loss of pubic hair, Lichen
Sclerosis, impaired sexual function.
Emotional: loss of libdio, depression, lack of motivation.
Delivery System Benifits:
DHEA is easy to apply. The delivery system for DHEA is a
pump bottle with each pump delivering approximately .166 mg of bioidentical
progesterone. A typical application is 4 pumps delivering .66 mg of
bioidentical DHEA.
To apply DHEA, simply dispense the dosage onto fingertips and gently
massage onto the application site. Applications sites are to be rotated
daily. The sites are the inner forarms, behind the knees, and the
inner thighs.
