Transdermal (percutaneous) (TDS) application or "delivery" of drugs,
hormones, and nutritional factors is a relatively new development and gaining
quickly in acceptance; well known examples are estrogen and nicotine patches.
According to a growing amount of research, transdermal delivery of
steroidal precursors and hormones has proven that these fat soluable
substances are more bioavailable to the body than equivalent doses in an
orally used formle. In other words, if taken by mouth in pill or capsule form,
these substances supply only a small precentage of the needed biological
activity when compared with the same dose amount, used in TDS.
Oral use is dependent on proper gastrointestional absorption, after
which metabolization takes place in the liver. This is known as first pass
loss through the liver. Therefore, TDS are considered to be more econimical,
efficient and beneficial. The added advantage is that the liver has less work
to do.
Suggested Use:
One dropperful (1/4 tsp) of the serum or 1/4 tsp of the cream
provides the general recommended level of transdermal supplementation. The
Serum or the cream can be rubbed into any soft tissue areas of the body. Many
women enjoy using the cream on their face, neck, and hands (where extra
moisturizing and nurishment is usually needed) and the serum on the other
areas of their body, including breasts, abdomen, or thighs (where rapi and
efficient absorption is needed). Either product can be used singularly or
together (in divided amounts) for desired results---preference determines
choice.
